- ✓License plate
- ✓Tax code
Step-by-step procedure
1
Find the rate for your car power (kW)
2026 Lombardy rates (examples): 70 kW car = €180/year. 100 kW = €260. 150 kW = €400. 200 kW = €530. Rate increases progressively with power. Check your registration for exact power.
Lombardy has the highest rates in Italy. Sicily has the lowest (~40% cheaper).
2
Discount for hybrid cars: 50% reduction
If your car is hybrid (gas + electric), you pay 50% of the rate for the first 5 years. After 5 years, tax returns to full rate. 100 kW hybrid = €260 × 50% = €130/year for 5 years, then €260.
Hybrid discount is for new cars. If you buy a used hybrid, check the first registration date.
3
Exemption for 100% electric cars: 5 years free
If your car is fully electric, you are exempt from the tax for 5 years. After 5 years, you pay a reduced rate (usually 25-50% of the standard rate). 100 kW electric = €0 for 5 years, then ~€65/year.
The exemption is a major incentive for electric cars. Also applies if you buy a used car (counts from first registration year).
4
Pay online on bollo.agenziaentrate.it
Same process as all regions: go to bollo.agenziaentrate.it, enter your plate and tax code, and pay with card. Receipt is immediate. Deadline remains the month before your registration month.
Late payment? You risk 30% extra fine (same as all regions).
